DIY palet table

Since beginning of the year, I tought about redoing my apartment. I generally had dark furnishing and my couch was huge. Time for a change! I was a long time lurker on Pinterest and I began to like to dig the bright, nordic style. I also really liked the do it yourself projects!

So my first project i wanted to do, is to replace my sofa table. I decided to make myself a palet sofa table with hairpinlegs.

I tried to visualize the construction of the palet table. You just need one palet, a few screws or nails, PU Paint and of course the nice and slick hairpinglegs. I bought 7 palets for $50 🙂 because I’m planning to do several projects. So more blogposts are following…

Step 1: Take palet completely apart. I used a hammer and a screwdriver. Not ideal ;). My neighbour rang at the door because it was too loud. I would suggest to use a crowbar.

Step 2: Use a grinding machine to smoothen everything, especially the edges. Of course you could do this also with sandpaper (have fun with that).

Step 3: Paint everything with PU Paint (polyurethane). I bought Schöner Wohnen PU Paint Matte Finish at Bauhaus.

Step 4: Put woodboard 1, 2 and 3 together. 7, 8 and 9 must be cut to a certain length. In my case it was 38cm (15 inches).

Step 5: Nail or screw 1, 2 and 3 with 7, 8 and 9.

Step 6:: Nail or screw 4, 5 and 6 on the bottom of 7, 8 and 9.

Step 7: Buy hairpinlegs on Wicked Hairpins. I bought the “Two Rod Hairpin Legs” (length: 36cm coffetable, finish: clear coated, thickness: 10mm).
